Polythought’s Debut Single “Alone”
Polythought, the new electronic duo that is comprised of Oliver Tank and producer Vinay Matta (Hansaa). Meeting in Sydney and connecting on their shared taste, Polythought creates innovative art-pop based on sound design and texture. Tank and Matta pride themselves on "creating an experience that is more impactful than music." Together they make music full of depth, introspection, and emotion, enhanced by strong visual components for fans of RÜFÜS DU SOL and Washed Out.
Today, the electro-R&B group releases their debut single, “Alone.” The track can be best described as a bittersweet banger with a deep mesmerizing production along with break-up like lyrics about trapped in an everlasting feeling of sadness. Inspired by Nicholas Jaar, Shlomo, and Boards of Canada, the two are grounded in the process of organic instrumentation and building expansive landscapes. Their debut single was written in Flume's studio in Artarmon, made out of playful improv and amplifying an autotune pedal. With enough experimentation, the autotune of Tank's lyrics reached full distortion in the chorus and "Alone" was born.
Tank and Matta have spent the last six months writing the debut Polythought mixtape Retrospect, and have just been announced to showcase at Australia's premier music conference, Bigsound. The two are only just scratching at the surface of their true potential.
