Every week, we’ll be bringing you Must Listen: a series that's a compilation of rising artists along with songs that must be added to your everyday playlist. This week’s playlist consists of emerging acts like Catch Carter, Sofia Thompson, and Martinez. Turn up, tune in, and tune out.

ELYSANIJ - Careta

Puerto Rican singer and composer, ELYSANIJ, embraces her urban and romantic sound in her single, “Careta.” The single is accompanied by a heartfelt music video revealing the power in recognizing when to move on and the value of doing so. As we continue to see a rise of female talent in the Latin Urban space, keep an eye out for ELYSANIJ’s career as it takes off, thanks to her incomparable sound and fresh look. 

Martinez - Dentro

Colombian born singer, Martinez, is creating waves in the Latin genre with his most recent singles. “Dentro” premiered in September and is the classic hit that hooks you to the chorus and before you know it, you’ve listened to the song on repeat at least 10 times. In Spanish and with his gifted vocals, Martinez lyricizes how impossible it is to forget about that special someone. The song is accompanied by a class music video of Martinez adding character and emotion to his successful single.

Catch Carter - Butterflies

Toronto-based artist and producer, Catch Carter, released his first single “Butterflies,” two weeks ago. As an experienced producer for several artists, such as Jazz Cartier and Kirk Knight, Catch Carter is beginning to release his own music and reveal his harmonious vocals by taking an alternative R&B approach while incorporating analog synths plus guitars to his sound. After listening and finding “Butterflies” to be a natural hit, we’ll be following Catch Carter on his artistic journey and future releases.

Nari - Pony

Singer-songwriter, Nari, recently released her latest single “Pony” where she sings with her melodic voice about an ex-boyfriend and the end of their relationship. Hailing from Kentucky, Nani’s sound is nostalgic yet fresh and inevitably catchy. 

Dark but Gray - Niña Linda

Mexican producer and singer-songwriter, Dark but Gray’s latest release “Niña Linda” is the perfect blend of healing electronic beats with a powerful voice. Dark but Gray aims to search for a combination of new sounds that function as an incentive for the mind and heart, and “Nina Linda” embodies exactly that.

st. Pedro - malapami 

In his most recent track, “malapami,” which translates to “bad for me,” st. Pedro details the toxicity of a relationship with a woman which has become purely physical. St. Pedro’s soulful R&B single gives us a glimpse of the power behind his dreamy voice as a rising star in Latin music. 

Sofia Thompson - Uh la la 

Hailing from Mexico City, singer-songwriter, Sofia Thompson’s unique upbeat sound is heavily influenced by blending R&B, techno/house and pop. In her latest track, “Uh la la,” the artist crafts a romantic love song accompanied by a conceptual music video that is tied to the storyline of her previous single “Cemento.” Sofia is set to release her first EP in the coming year and there’s no doubt it is one to keep on your radar. 

Selene - Pegao 

Mexican singer-songwriter, Selene, is an emerging artist making strides for female talent in Urban music. In her latest track, “Pegao,” Selene reveals a sensual side to her songwriting, detailing an experience we’ve all surely had when the night gets the best of us - falling in love at the club. Her intent with the track was to create a fun, youthful song to dance the night away.

KORDELYA - s a l u d o s 

Mexican-American artist, KORDELYA showcases her electro-pop sound in, “saludos,” one of the tracks off of her debut album Mal Hecha, alongside Jess Baez. The song embodies KORDEYLA’s development of exotic sounds, all while combining dark trap-leaning and synth-based production. The 17-track album represents her range of style and inspiration for creating new and refreshing art for listeners.
