MUST LISTEN 097

Every week, we’ll be bringing you Must Listen: a series that's a compilation of rising artists along with songs that must be added to your everyday playlist. This week’s playlist consists of emerging acts like yergurl, Dylan Sinclair, and AMETHYST.

R&B newcomer, AMETHYST, returns with her soulful single “Get Comfortable.” The track brings us another new production style combined with her sultry smokey vocals, smooth bassline, and soulful guitar playing, combined. The slower tempo and the intriguing narrative will certainly take her listeners on a journey.

Sydney-based artist Hearteyes shares the new mixtape #REALLYCRAZYSUMMER. The blistering new project from the genre-defying artist marks his most high-energy and uncompromising work to date, delivering potent bars against bass-heavy production. Focus track 'PICSONMYPHONE' exemplifies Hearteyes' ability to skirt the boundaries of classification, crafting memorable chorus hooks against buzzing, glitchy synths.

Araya

Thai-Chilean, NYC native, multi-hyphenate artist, Araya, releases his genre-bending new album Ethos. On this album, Araya grapples with purpose, identity, spirituality, and more, as he mixes vintage and futuristic sounds into a transfixing blend of R&B, pop, hip-hop, and electronic music. Standout track “Candy” reflects on the ways that bravado and swagger often hide trauma and self-doubt.

yergurl

21-year-old artist and producer yergurl welcomes in a new era with a heavy-hitting single and video “PUPPY DOG.” An adrenaline-fuelled, rap-inspired cut that exemplifies her trademark wit and no holds barred attitude, the track is a bold reintroduction to yergurl's world, showcasing ferocious energy and slamming, bass-heavy production.

BOY SODA

Acclaimed Sydney-based artist, songwriter, producer, and vocalist BOY SODA today returns with his high-energy new single “BIG”. Born from ideas and thoughts circulating BOY SODA’s head about purpose, “BIG” encapsulates the idea of learning to stay present while still remaining hyper-self-aware; that while things may seem small in the grand scheme of things, it does not render me insignificant.

Dylan Sinclair

Gearing up for the release of his forthcoming EP, rising 20-year-old R&B singer-songwriter, Dylan Sinclair returns with his introspective and moody new single “Suppress.” Paired with a haunting production, heavy bass line, and velvety falsetto’s the track instantly puts you into your feels. Touching on themes of self-reflection, Sinclair touches on his flaws in a relationship and aims to be better.

J.Scott

Brooklyn-based genre-defying artist, J.Scott, returns with his expensive new single “FINER THING$.” Using the track as a powerful tool for manifestation paired with a luxurious diamond-filled music video gives a glimpse of the life he envisions for himself and his friends.  The suave instrumental paired with his glamorous vocals makes this track the perfect escape from reality into a world of opulence.

Maya Rain

Fresh to the scene is Maya Rain with her latest single “O.Y.H (Hold Me).” The track is a sultry slow-burning gem that is packed with airy harmonies that are heavily inspired by 90s R&B. The lyrics tell the story of a relationship stuck in a never-ending cycle. Where you know it should end, there is no compromise or quality time however, the physical pleasures cloud your emotional judgment and the cycle continues.
