MUST LISTEN 080

Every week, we’ll be bringing you Must Listen: a series that's a compilation of rising artists along with songs that must be added to your everyday playlist. This week’s playlist consists of emerging acts like Abby T, Inner State 81, and Hadji Gaviota. Turn on, tune in, and zone out.

On her ascent to the top of the R&B and hip-hop ladder, Abby T. is everything but unstoppable at the moment. And on her latest single “Legos,” she confirms her longevity; seamlessly moving in and out of rapping and singing on the bouncy track, accompanied by a catchy verse from fellow artist, Rodney Chrome.

Bringing back refreshing producer and rapper duo collaborations, Inner State 81 links up with Nate Traveller to give us the addictive combination of rap fused with house in “Asian Cigarettes.” The entrancing beat makes for a perfect loop that’s meant to be on repeat, while the lyrics, Nate’s heartfelt ode to Taiwan, suit the production entirely.

In anticipation of the release of his ambitious full-length project, Ehiorobo drops “Pool,” a silk-like infusion of his sultry vocals on an even lustier production. The New Jersey native projects his fine skills of genre-blending, blurring the line between jazz, R&B, and psychedelic rock with his eclectic sound, promising similar versatility and drive in his upcoming album.

In true Halloween spirit, Hadji Gaviota drops a spooky visual for his newest release, “shyhomie!” Inspired by some of the most iconic horror films and their legendary villains, Hadji is as panicked and uptempo as the beat while he navigates through an unexpected night, singing about his shy company in the catchiest hook.

With a new energetic and charming vibe, DEJA returns with “like that,” a song that will make you move and leave behind anything that has got you hung up. Her relatable and fiery lyricism and sticky rhythmic pop sound distinguish her as one of the most interesting new artists to emerge from London’s R&B and pop scene.

Sydney-based pop artist Abby Bella May shares her latest enchanting single “Hocus Pocus.” Anthemic horns break the ground for a concoction of catchy hooks and playful lyricism, with Abby’s lush vocals soaring over the top of the dance-laden groove. The single combines Abby's signature playful lyricism with a catchy, dreamy pop melody.

New Zealand-based MC/artist, deadforest, releases his latest heater “Loud & Clear.” This explosive single is backed with a confident flow over a murky-drill-influenced production. The MC specializes in hard-hitting bards paired with a beat selection that pushes the boundaries of the current soundscape in hip-hop.

Bringing to life the sentiment of the “4 In The Morning", Nápoles shares her intimate visualizer, a gently meandering documentation of her visit to the Algarve coast. Fusing R&B, Soul, Jazz, and Hip-Hop her musical recipe provides easily digestible and highly delectable releases one after the other, with “4 In The Morning” standing as another fine example of this.
