MUST LISTEN 079

Every week, we’ll be bringing you Must Listen: a series that's a compilation of rising artists along with songs that must be added to your everyday playlist. This week’s playlist consists of emerging acts like keshi, Noah Guy, and Aries. Turn on, tune in, and zone out.

Houston-alternative newcomer keshi releases “SOMEBODY,” the first single and music video from his upcoming debut studio album. The track is the perfect equilibrium between lo-fi and pop, with a touch of 832, the song is powered by layers of keshi’s harmonies, but is simultaneously a new venture into an edgier soundscape.

L.A. based alt-pop artist Aries returns with his uptempo pop-punk influenced track “ONE PUNCH.” The all-around creative force has been on a roll with an incredibly impressive string of singles these past few months. Aries continues to push and expand the depths of his sound, the song reminiscent of elements from Y2K-punk but still maintaining the rising star’s signature crisp sound.

17-year-old Chicago native, adan diaz, shares the second track “black & mild” from his debut EP godmode out on November 12th. The track creates this chill and relaxing atmosphere that makes you want to zone out after a long day. The EP romanticizes the tiny pleasures of everyday life, from sharing a twin-sized bed to smoking a black & mild on a rainy day and jumping fences after a prank that went horribly wrong.

Critically acclaimed triple threat singer-songwriter and producer Dominique has released her first single of 2021 titled “La Kroy.” The track is a musical journey with influences of pop, hyperpop, rock, and house, as well as a nod to Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl," full of switch-ups and surprises.

Berlin-based independent label, Havêa Records, presents a new collaborative EP from UK-based ZULA and glue70. Forged in the small hours following big nights, the quiet time of nestled downtime, and amongst the lived hours soaking up inspiration from their home city of Manchester, it’s a project born of experimental experiences. The unique styles from each of them seamlessly blend together on “Let’s Go Out” with ZULA’s sugar-sweet vocals over glue70’s molten beats.

West London singer-songwriter Areej shares her evocated debut single “Guided” off of her forthcoming five-track EP due early 2022. The track is an intimate portrait of discovering those first cracks of light in a moody grey sky with a decisive blend of clean beats, soul, and jazz influences. The rising star’s sound is a full-bodied experience.

Noah Guy is no stranger to our playlists. The soulful singer-songwriter unveils his highly anticipated debut EP, is it real? The opening track, “Glory Convictions” is packed with rich strings accompanied by heavenly harmonies all perfectly packaged together with a warm and familiar feeling that keeps you coming back for more.

Singer-songwriter and producer frogi floats on clouds on her dreamy single, “fake it.” The song is embedded with soft piano notes while frogi’s soothing vocals, intricately layered throughout, transport you to her world where she’s at peace with embracing her true self. Following up to the previously released “phantom limb,” frogi is inevitably orbiting everyone’s radar with her distinctive creativity.
