The Lazy Eyes Release Their Latest Single “Cheesy Love Song”

The Lazy Eyes are an Australian native band whose sound is reminiscent of smile-era Beach Boys or Pond. Their latest song seems to pull inspiration from an Abbey Road era Beatles track—it contains a mix of psychedelic, beachy and somber guitar passages, led by lazy yet prominent piano keys. Both are interrupted during the earlier half of the song by beautiful string sections which send the track into the clouds as the lead vocalist states “I’m perfect, but I know that’s not true...and neither are you.” The song’s lyrics contain a story about a love that could have been but fell apart due to a lack of communication. Its accompanying video shows the band in a dark studio playing the song on their instruments, with the occasional visual fade in/fade out of the bandmates on the screen, followed by an all-out visual assault of psychedelic proportions at the end of the track. The bandmates, now 19, met at a performing arts high school only at the age of 15. Over the last few years, they have garnered a cult-like following for their live shows. Definitely one to keep an eye out for, the band seems promising and upholds endless potential.
