MUST LISTEN 113

Every week, we’ll be bringing you Must Listen: a series that's a compilation of rising artists along with songs that must be added to your everyday playlist. This week’s playlist consists of emerging acts like LOKRE, Luck, and Ditch Days.

R&B singer-songwriter, LOKRE, returns with her enchanting new single “Sun Don’t Set.” Centered around a simple guitar strum, the track builds up into his lush harmonic soundscape that leads into a powerful anthemic chorus. Overall, the track is a vibrant R&B tune marked with powerful vocals that leave us wanting more.

Singer/songwriter SAHRA releases her new single, “Come With Me,” and announces her forthcoming EP, Stolen Moments, coming out on July 21st. Introspective and self-critical, the poetic lyrics reveal all in just one line stating they’re ‘falling apart trying to make diamonds with dust’, effortlessly capturing the essence of a relationship held on by a thread.

Indie-pop band Ditch Days returns with a refreshing new single, “Clementine” featuring Laure Briard. The track is the second taste from the band’s upcoming sophomore album, and their first attempt at experimenting with implementing French into their sound. This bilingual tune will definitely stay on repeat for the remainder of the summer.

Vietnamese-American school teacher Monét Ngo releases his second single,”Ruby Sparks,” after his successful début single, “Lonestar.” Creating the music “he wishes he could have listened to as he grew up”, Monét is delivering a unique blend of indie-rock, alt-RnB with elements of pop-punk on “Ruby Sparks.”

Multi-faceted pop artist Isabel LaRosa releases her mesmerizing single, “HEAVEN,” the third and final single from her three-track EP, i’m watching you. LaRosa’s sound is a satisfying blend of electric, bedroom-pop, indie pop, and other variations of the genre. LaRosa’s visuals are inspired by thriller, horror, and sci-fi movies and television shows, and provide the backdrop to her hand-crafted sonic universe.

Brooklyn-based dark alt-pop artist Ari Abdul releases her infectious new single, “Taste.” The track resides on a foundation built by a chugging bass line and Ari's smoky vocals. Heavily reverbed guitars create a wall of sound that adds a surreal quality to the chorus. "Taste" is a perfect example of modern pop production and haunting shoegaze. This dreamy track hangs in the air like a humid night you don't really want to end.

Orlando native, Talii, returns with her intoxicating EP …Songs To Feel. Heavily influenced by 90s and early 2000s R&B and pop, she has taken on the mantle of combining all of these sensibilities together and creating something beyond the norm of what you hear on the day-to-day. Standout track “Safe and Sound” offers the perfect blend between pop and R&B, creating a moody soundscape that slips you right into your feelings.

Powerhouse singer and conscious jewelry designer Luck delivers her debut EP, It Wasn’t Luck alongside a short-film for her lead single, “Don’t Sweat”. The track offers a unique fusion of R&B, Hip-Hop, Pop, and Rock while touching on themes of strength and resilience in the face of adversity.
