MUST LISTEN 102

Every week, we’ll be bringing you Must Listen: a series that's a compilation of rising artists along with songs that must be added to your everyday playlist. This week’s playlist consists of emerging acts like Orrin, Raelle, and SYLO.

Self-proclaimed cyborg rapper Orrin returns with his latest track, “My Bad.” Inspired by 2000s cyberpunk imagery and y2k elements, the track is very coming-of-age, detailing the painful sacrifice of love, human connection, and friendship when we forget where we come from.

Raelle is part of a new refreshing wave of Neo-soul artists from London. On her latest track “Grace” the rising star’s enchanting vocals glide over an eclectic mix of drums and strings that truly compliment the power behind her vocals.

NYC native, Justy, returns with a refreshing new track “L8tr” with collaborator C. Gold. Justy's airy and hushed melodic vocal runs are seamlessly complemented by the pulsating basslines and snappy drum grooves of the track.

Known for delectable tracks like "Ginny" and "FOMO", Sylo (formerly Sylo Nozra) is back with a new name and new single titled, "Millions.” Written in a remote cottage last fall, the track is a silky love letter written in the form of manifesting none other than millions of dollars.

Drill legend Digga D returns with his latest single, “Hold It Down,” where he strays away from his usual catchy flows and vivid lyrics to melodies and a surprisingly nostalgic hook. Interpolating 50 Cent’s hit “21 Questions”, the UK rapper successfully makes the classic his own by telling stories about his personal life and asking his own version of the iconic questions.

42 Dugg & EST Gee

Frequent collaborators and roster-mates 42 Dugg & EST Gee dropped their highly anticipated joint album, Last One Left. The two deliver hard-hitting verses back and forth while Dugg also shines with his signature, addictive hooks on tracks like “Spin” and “Thump Shit.”

Elevating Toronto’s new R&B wave, Savannah Ré teams up with fellow R&B rising star Dylan Sinclair to bring us her silky, mesmerizing new single, “Last Ones.” The two deliver one of the smoothest R&B collaborations of the year, their honeyed voices blending and coexisting in perfect fluidity on the song. It’s safe to say the city of Toronto is keeping the future bright for R&B.

Parisian producer & artist, Darius, shares "MATERIAL GIRL ft. Lo Village" from his forthcoming full-length album, Oasis, out on April 22nd. An upbeat, electro-soul track with a thudding heartbeat built on a driving synth. Maryland-based trio Lo Village adds a warm melody and flowing rap to the track; the neo-soul and distinctly American subject matter of Lo Village's music perfectly complement Darius' mix of R&B, soul, and dance music.
