MUST LISTEN 095

Every week, we’ll be bringing you Must Listen: a series that's a compilation of rising artists along with songs that must be added to your everyday playlist. This week’s playlist consists of emerging acts like Kyle Dion, Ogi, and SORA. Turn on, tune in, and zone out.

Kyle Dion teams up with the Australian powerhouse Tkay Maidza for sultry new single “HAZY.” The flirty record comes just ahead of Dion’s return to the stage following a nearly two-year hiatus. Telling the complex story of the two people toeing the line between lovers and friends, “HAZY” embodies the hazy nature of this kind of relationship with slinky production, husky vocals, and a certain air of playfulness.

Teenage singer-songwriter, Anna Sofia, showcases a new, vulnerable side with her first single of the year, “No.5.” Contrasting the hyper-confident voice introduced in her latest release, “No Negotiations,” this new work sees the young songwriter facing fears and acknowledging the internal work it requires to be brave enough to face it.

R&B singer/songwriter Marzz releases her new single “KMS.” “KMS,” short for “killing me slowly,” is an apt title for a familiar tale of failing romance. The track marries the despondence of someone facing unrequited love, with the hopeful sound of a young artist at the precipice of their prime.

Singer-songwriter, Will Joesph Cook, releases his dreamy new single “Little Miss.” Inspired by the retro sounds of the Wii and GameCube era the track is a warm, hazy, sun-dappled open love letter about the feeling of missing them.

Singer-songwriter Soran reveals his new single, the honest and confessional ‘Way Up’. Following on from the cosmic ‘Space Boy’ then the electronic alt-pop, sad bop ‘Tired’, 2021 saw Soran truly come into his own. Showcasing songwriting that oozes with honesty and an authentic confessional style narrative, piece by piece, Soran's unique puzzle is slowly slotting into place, revealing a story like no other.

Rising soul singer-songwriter Ogi has shared her much-anticipated debut single, “I Got It.” A cosmic blend that showcases all of her influences in a beautiful arrangement of harmonies and confidence that pull you into her world. Songs like “I Got It” see Ogi tapping into a musical spirit agnostic of the era yet connected to any age.

The hip-Hop rapper-producer duo made up of Kwame Adu and ZAYALLCAPS released their sophomore mixtape Mountain. Sonically, this tape is marked by expertly flipped, dusty beats paired with candid and brutally honest rhymes that instantly resonate in your soul. Standout track, “Peanuts” has the perfect balance of blending together past and present with an infectious sample that echos throughout from the timeless flow that glides over the production, proving that the duo is here to stay.

Critcally acclaimed singer-songwriterTinashe returns with her slick and catchy new track, “Naturally.” Accompanied with a gory video that pays homage to classic cult horror pairing with the theme of the track that any relationship can be doomed from the start. This track is one of four from her upcoming 333 Deluxe album due on March 3rd.
