MUST LISTEN 082

Every week, we’ll be bringing you Must Listen: a series that's a compilation of rising artists along with songs that must be added to your everyday playlist. This week’s playlist consists of emerging acts like A.CHAL, Ferdous, and Deem Spencer. Turn on, tune in, and zone out.

A.CHAL

Peruvian-born singer, songwriter, and producer Alejandro Chal, better known as A.CHAL, recently released his latest project titled FAR FROM GAZ. “Zorro,” the track off of the project, gives listeners a glimpse into the artist’s moody and eclectic R&B sound all while effortlessly transitioning between English and Spanish lyrics.

Mexican-American KORDELYA calls out the metaphorical matadors and their red flags on her new single “Torero.” The single features punchy, bodacious horns juxtaposed by the rising star’s silky vocals as she muses on the trap of toxic relationships. With an album on the horizon, we’re looking forward to seeing what’s next for KORDELYA.

Afghan-Dutch artist and producer Ferdous returns with his latest single, “Wasteland.” Harnessed with alluring bass whirs and sultry R&B grooves, this single is a bold statement of overcoming hindsight. Dripping in golden inflections and underscored with heart-thumping beats, the track truly showcases Ferdous’ signature sound in the best possible way.

Portland native, Reva DeVito, returns with her smooth single “Magic.” The track is bathed in effortless and funky nostalgic production with her witty and charismatic wordplay which leaves you spell-bounded. The single is a preview of what’s to come on her forthcoming debut album due later next year.

Conor Albert

Conor Albert teams up with James Smith on their latest single “Crescent Moon.”  The track is a stunning amalgamation of contrasting songwriting styles, bringing together two delicate piano stabs, rubbery bass lines, and a groove-driven percussion blending James’ velvet vocals.

Friné Alejo and JP Guerrero make up Mexican pop duo, Juanpalitoschinos. In their latest single titled “Hacerte Bien,” the indie pair showcase their feel-good sound inspired by Japanese city pop.

Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Pretty Boy Aaron is a multi-faceted artist - dynamic rapper, singer, producer, and video director. A jack of all trades, in his latest EP, Pretty Boy, listeners can experience groovy indie-pop and ear-catching tracks. One of our personal favorites is Delfino (Feel This Way) featuring Bruhnice.

Hailing from Jamaica, Queens, Deem Spencer is a young hip-hop talent to keep on your radar. His latest single, “Se Réveiller,” is a stand-out sound that will have you hooked and running over to check out his latest project, Deem’s Tape.
