GSG

With the lead track off of her third album, GSG MIXTAPE, Leah Dou introduces a body of work that is a series of sketches looped together by her artistic prowess. Directed by Roni Shao, the music video is a visual reflection of the artist’s journey through life and self-actualization. It shows the dark side of being human, but emphasizes the hope that can lift us up through hard times.

Blur

The Montreal-based artist’s sophomore EP, Close to the Flame, is about transformation to self-love as a result of grueling heartbreak. Forever describes the entire work as being “haunted by a ghost.” The first track, “Blur” details the phantom’s murder which is used to channel her torment within her own past relationship. Thankfully by the end of the EP, the ghost turns into an angel and, with a sigh of relief, we understand that the artist is finally free from the source of her pain.

Twinkle

“Twinkle” combines Hether’s soft falsetto with slow-moving guitar into a chill, fluid track. Interestingly, the calming instrumental is a great contrast from the lyrics dealing with heartache and sadness. This dreamscape is fascinating and it feels easy to get lost in its haze.

TOUCH ft. Adi

Feux releases another teaser for his upcoming EP with his latest single, “TOUCH.” In collaboration with Adi, the artist reflects on social isolation and the uphill battle to push past doubtful outside influences. Feux is a prime example of the hidden gems within the UK underground scene and we’re looking forward to what else he has to offer.

Strawberries

The 9-piece Norwegian band wows with their standout single from their sophomore album, Balcony Dream. “Strawberries” will hypnotize you with gentle guitar and poetic vocals. It could be considered a folk song, yet it stands out from the crowd eliciting more intrigue from the listener.

Out the Way

Samaria has never shied away from owning her individuality and self-expression. Inspired by conversations with her ex, “Out the Way” is her way to make amends with her past mistakes and relationship hiccups. It’s an exercise in humility and forgiveness rather than taking the easy route by preserving her ego.

Neighbor

Hailing from South Carolina, okaywill is bursting through the music scene with his bedroom pop inspired tracks like his most recent single, “Neighbor.” His compositions are nostalgic visions of the playful and angsty side of youth. The producer has a knack for creating coy yet imaginative work.

Let Go

“Let Go” is a contemplation on vulnerability and the loss of a loved one. With an upbeat melody contrasted by heavy lyrics, it’s amazing how this track was initially created as far back as 2013 and has persevered all these eventful years. Karaboudjan is set to release his debut EP, IMAGO and we’re eagerly anticipating what this tribute to his youth and his late father will sound like.

FLUTTER

It’s the dawn of a new era for Xelli Island. After releasing songs lamenting on her inner thoughts, past mistakes, and hardships, “FLUTTER” arrives from another universe to deliver a minimal yet beautiful message of self-acceptance. It’s honest, playful, and a great example of what a Dream Pop track should sound like.
