Sal Dulu ft. Fly Anakin - “Zumo”
Taking cues from the likes of L’Orange and Madlib, Dublin’s Sal Dulu brings a transcendental blend of spacious soul samples and atmospheric hip-hop on “Zumo.” Accompanied by rapper Fly Anakin, Dulu’s cosmic production allows each lyric to flow beautifully, showing off a rare chemistry between both artists. For those in need of some classic Stones Throw-era nostalgia, “Zumo” hits the right spot.
Dee Gatti - “Clear My Mind”
Although called an R&B newcomer, Dee Gatti sounds like she’s always been here on “Clear My Mind.” From its slow, yet infectious production, to Dee Gatti’s heartfelt vocals, “Clear My Mind,” is a strong R&B single, capable of contending with the world’s Jhene Aikos and SZAs.
Double Dropped - “ENTER THE GARAGE”
Irish producer Double Dropped has released a new single “ENTER THE GARAGE,” a soothing UK garage track that takes listeners back to late ‘90s optimism. Accompanied by bouncy 808s and infectious soul and hip-hop samples, Double Dropped brings an enthusiastic energy on the track, showing love for the old-school garage era, while adding modern production sensibilities.
Purient - “Memories”
Australian vocalist and producer Purient, aka Kate Durman, has released a new single called “Memories,” from her forthcoming EP of the same name out on March 26. This infectious electronic track takes the sensibilities of modern deconstructed club, with the eeriness of modern EBM. “Memories'' gets into a groove from the outset, as it builds up to an absolutely bonkers conclusion.
Keyuntae - “Faith”
Although Keyuntai hails from North Carolina, “Faith” brings an anthemic rap energy reminiscent of West Coast greats such as Nipsey Hussle and Dom Kennedy. Bringing its gospel and jazz influences to the forefront, “Faith” is an uplifting song, celebrating Keyuntae’s hustle.
Charlotte Jacobs - “Other Half”
Opening up with an ethereal ambiance, “Other Half” is an experimental indie-pop song that brings playful dreamscapes to Charlotte Jacobs’ gentle voice. The instrumental is reminiscent of Chrome Sparks’ early work, while Jacobs’ voice emulates 1990s indie pop, making both halves of “Other Half” a pleasant aural experience.
Yung Bleu ft. Coi Leray - “Thieves In Atlanta”
This sweet alternative R&B track brings modest trap sensibilities to Yung Bleu’s emotional lyrics and melodic vocals. Coi Leray brings a playful energy to the track, which goes well with Yung Bleu’s signature flows. Overall this is another strong single from the Alabama performer, who’s been steadily rising in the music scene.
Chrxstal Sarah - “Big Fish Theory”
“Big Fish Theory'' is a sleek neo-soul track that highlights Chrxstal Sarah’s catchy vocals and earnest lyricism. The song’s jazz-influenced production and pristine melodies are perfect for a late night drive.
Ålesund - “Lightning”
Alternative pop outfit Ålesund are back with an uplifting alt pop track, backed by Alba Torriset’s strong vocals and guitarist Lloyd Starr’s instrumentals. Unlike the dark moody atmosphere usually associated with Bristol outfits, “Lightning” strikes with an anthemic energy present in its sleek piano melody and upbeat horns, which project both confidence and sincerity.
