MUST LISTEN 010
Every week, we’ll be bringing you Must Listen: a series that's a compilation of rising artists along with songs that must be added to your everyday playlist. This week’s playlist consists of emerging acts like Se So Neon, Priya Ragu, and Chin The Kid. Turn up, tune in, and tune out.
Se So Neon - “Go Back 집에”
The South Korean three-piece Se So Neon delivers unique vocals, a killer concept, and an album that I haven’t stopped listening to since I heard it. The music video is visually overwhelming--in a good way. It’s vibrant and interesting, and a great complement to a relatively mellow track.
Priya Ragu - “Good Love 2.0”
Priya Ragu sings about a fresh and euphoric love on “Good Love 2.0.” It's a smooth, groovy, and satisfying blend of genres. Her rap in the second verse is what sends it home!
DeVita - “EVITA!”
The coolest homage to the 80’s with a modern flare, DeVita’s “EVITA!” exudes confidence and style. The opening saxophone hooks you onto the song, and Director Jooniya Makes nails the cyber aesthetic in the music video.
Chin the Kid - “Hinata”
Short and sweet: “Hinata” by Chin the Kid features soft vocals and tender lyrics. It’s a dreamy new accompaniment to your nighttime playlist.
the booyah! kids - “Don’t Trust Me”
A fun, feel-good song and, probably, the best “quarantine music video” ever (and the best band name ever). The three Kids are using their creative strengths to the fullest and it shines through in their latest album, Booyah.
DAISY - “YOU REMIND ME OF NO ONE”
My favorite song to belt in the shower when no one is home--I like to pretend that I have the vocal chops of the main singer. Although DAISY hasn't put out new music in a while, I hope they have something new in the works.
KAINA - “Could Be a Curse” ft. Sen Morimoto
There is almost nothing more pleasing to the ear than perfect harmonies. Sung in English, Spanish, and Japanese, KAINA and Sen Morimoto come together to wonder if unwanted feelings last forever.
Rainsford - “Crying in the Mirror”
I’ve always loved the way Rainsford’s sultry vocals give a little something extra to a pop single. Her newest release “Crying in the Mirror” is her take on the post-breakup song.
aTTn - “kafun”
Lastly is yet another trio, aTTn. The song is elevated from a chill listen to a dynamic track with a ripping guitar solo in the middle and constant motion of the camera in the music video.
