Toro y Moi - Girl Like You

While Chaz Bundick (aka Toro Y Moi) may have recently entered into the foray of indie rock through his side project Chaz Bundick Meets the Mattson 2, and his previous solo release What For?, it’s clear that his electronic synth pop roots still very much so have a grasp on him. “Girl Like You” is a meditation finding that special person who is just as much into you, and as you are them. His previous chillwave roots also seem to be on display in this track, the tranquil, subdued synths glide over a programmed drum loop, both allowing Toro y Moi's vocal performance to slide in and out of focus. The accompanying music video’s aesthetic evokes a similarly c h i l l w a v e vibe. While it may not be his best work, “Girl Like You” has us patiently awaiting what more Toro has in store for us with this fresh revision of his original sonic platelet. Toro y Moi’s 5th studio album Boo Boo will be released July 7th, 2017 via Carpark Records.
