MUST LISTEN 123

Every week, we’ll be bringing you Must Listen: a series that's a compilation of rising artists along with songs that must be added to your everyday playlist. This week’s playlist consists of emerging acts like Vetta Bourne, Jibuel, and Joya Mooi.

Pop shapeshifter Vetta Borne returns once again with a steamy new single, “Say Less.” Laced with lustrous, sexy, and alluring vocal work with a driving, yet smooth bassline and beat, “Say Less” could truly only be described as a cross between flirtatious and funky.

Bubbling R&B singer Journey Montana releases her latest single, “Bad Decisions.” This post-heartbreak anthem showcases the NY native’s angelic vocals crooning over a minimalist trap-like production, fueled with emotionally charged songwriting that can resonate with everybody.

Artist to watch Shygirl releases her sexually charged club banger, “NIKE” ahead of her debut album Nymph dropping later this month. The track is drum-heavy uptempo bop that finds Shygirl claiming her sensuality over the slick addictive production from Mura Masa.

R&B artist Joya Mooi releases her glitchy new single “Did Enough”, leading up to her two-part studio album with Side A coming out on September 30th, following up with Side B in 2023. This track doesn’t shy away from Joya’s method of experimentation as her vocals ebb and flow through this stuttering eclectic production, transferring you into her world.

Detroit Rapper Babyface Ray joins forces with UK Rap frontrunner Digga D for their new single, “Goofies.” Bridging the gap between West London and Detroit, both artists have been on individual missions to “change the culture for hip-hop” - stated in the chorus - while flying the flag for their natives.

Miami’s 21-year-old indie pop artist and viral TikTok sensation Jiubel releases his infectious new single “Scooby Doo,” via The FADER Label. It’s a fast-paced offering that tells the story of love pushing us to our limits. The production, bursting with frenetic percussion and complimentary low-key, resonant strings, lays the foundation for a song that evokes the feeling of running from a situation that is driving you mad while showcasing a more raw side of Jiubel.

Nigerian singer-songwriter and producer CKay returns to give fans a glimpse of what to expect from his upcoming album release with his new single, “You.” Drawing from R&B, Afrobeat and Amapiano, CKay travels miles along this time-space continuum to deliver a full-fledged work of art that surprises you at every turn.

Portuguese singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist MARO has released her debut album, can you see me? The album itself dips in and out of alternative, pop, indie, R&B, electronic, and even trap production with its own flair and finesse, accentuating her unfiltered storytelling.
