MUST LISTEN 117

Every week, we’ll be bringing you Must Listen: a series that's a compilation of rising artists along with songs that must be added to your everyday playlist. This week’s playlist consists of emerging acts like Justice Carradine, Daniel Price, and TALIA.

Bubbling singer-songwriter Evangeline releases her heavy-yet-hopeful track, “Will.” The track has a specific airy-ness to it paired with percolating flute motifs, and sliding acoustic guitars, while contrasting with the heavy-ness smashed in by the drums with lyrics poking fun at insecurity.

Alternative singer-songwriter TALIA returns with her dreamy and heartbreaking track, “nosebleeds.” The song is a blend of her signature ethereal folk sound, meticulously infused with electronic elements. The track comes from a story of grasping for control and finally finding release during a period of deep heartbreak.

Artist to watch Zyah Belle returns with her latest single “Not The One” featuring Tempest. The track radiates bad bitch energy and is a continuation of the singer's narrative of self-love. Her confidence shines through witty lyrics overtop an addictive, danceable beat.

Toronto-based, R&B songstress Jayd Ink makes a welcome return with her smooth, meditative and self-reflective new single, “Queen St”. Demonstrating yet again that she is an exciting contender in the realms of R&B royalty, “Queen St” is quietly confident, intuitive, and gorgeously understated.

22-year-old poet, songwriter, producer, and filmmaker Mamadou releases his vulnerable and heart-wrenching song, “A Rose Told Me About Love.” This introspective track is embedded with a lush production that's overfilled with bass, alongside his breathy vocals that immediately throw you into this world. Accompanied by an extremely moving short film, Mamadou is an artist to have on your radar.

Nashville-based artists Alex Slay & Clover Jamez team up on their silky smooth track, “Marathon.” This summer-tinged single seamlessly blends elements of sunshine pop with elements of R&B to create a groovy and inviting soundscape.

L.A-based artist Daniel Price delivers with his falsetto-driven single “Blue Eyed Angel” ahead of the release of his forthcoming EP, Peaking, due August 5th. The track is centered around a simplistic guitar riff that leads into a euphoric build-up, making him one of R&B’s brightest gems.

Alt-pop artist Justice Carradine shared his first new single in over a year titled “Tears In My Eyes.” Born out of Justice’s first-ever panic attack, this emotionally charged single is his most vulnerable release to date. The track follows the self-reflective “okay” which similarly is centered around mental health issues Justice experienced in his teens.
